Ideas for Becoming a Writer

This page will be used to compile my thoughts on becoming a writer.

• Figure out your passions
• Determine what you want to write about
• Make sure you organize your thoughts
• Ensure you are strong in grammar and spelling - do not rely on spell check and grammar check as they are often not accurate; make sure you know the difference between homonyms such as there, their and they're; make sure you know exceptions to phonics and grammar rules that will not be built into spell check or grammar check
• If you are not strong in grammar and spelling, consider taking a remedial class at community college or find an editor for your submission
• Determine the platform for your writing - do you want to write a blog, poetry, cook book, how-to book, short stories, novels, etc.?
